MADRASSA AN-NOOR FOR THE BLIND and CEDARA BLIND FOUNDATION
INTERNATIONAL are registered with SARS under Section 18A of the Income
Tax Act which provides tax relief on donations to us.
To qualify for this tax relief, donations need to be made to us which
will be acknowledged with the appropriate receipt, which must accompany
your tax return.
Donations are tax deductible to the extent of the greater
of five percent of taxable income or R1000. A taxpayer with a taxable
income of, say R100 000 can donate up to R5000 a year and enjoy tax
deduction for the full amount donated.
A salaried taxpayer donating R5000 would be entitled
to a tax refund of R1500 on assessment. He or she would be out of pocket
by only R3500 but the welfare organisation would be able to deliver
public benefit activities to the full value of the R5000 donated. The
tax benefit applies equally to businesses and private individuals.
PLEASE NOTE:
Section 18A Tax Benefit applies to South African donors only.
