Bringing Warmth

All praise is due to Allah (SWT), the Lord of the worlds and Peace and Salutations be upon our Beloved Prophet Muhammed (PBUH).

On Wednesday ,the 14th of June 2012, our teachers visited a farm at Rose Boom, which is situated near Ladysmith in KwaZulu Natal.

There is a little “Maktab” operating from a simple mud house where little children are learning about the teachings of Islam and to read the Quraan.

Our ex-student, Imaam Abdullah Sithole who graduated last year from Madrassa An-Noor for the Blind is teaching with Apa Saffiyah.

In this rural setting, Sheikh uses his Braille books to teach normal sighted children and, Alhamdulillah, he is proving his ability.

Together with Hajee Abid Karrim who is the development coordinator of Al Imdaad South Africa, we distributed blankets to every student attending the Madrassa so that they remain warm in the freezing cold this winter.

The students sang songs praising Allah (SWT) and Nabi (SAW), before we departed.

Also, on the 20th of July 2012 our teachers and students visited the Etembeni School for the Blind which is situated in Inchanga.

On behalf of the Muslim community, we distributed blankets to every student and we were given an opportunity to address the primary school students and the staff.

Our principal Moulana Murchie asked the pupils, what in their opinion, is the most dangerous animal. The children responded by naming among others, the lion, the tiger and the snake. He then asked the children whether they had ever seen a lion or a tiger armed with a gun or stealing a person’s valuables from their bag.

Upon their amused denial, the students were led to understand that the most dangerous animal is actually a human being who does not have faith and morals. A human however supersedes even the angels by virtue of possessing these qualities.

Islam encourages us to be sharing, caring and loving, and it is the obligation of every Muslim to help the weak.

May Allah (SWT) accept our efforts. Ameen.
