International Qur’anic Braille Conference – February 3 - 8 February 2013
Our Team, Moulana Hassan A.K. Murchie, Sheikh Hussain Hashi, Moulana Islah Busakorn (Thailand) and Shiraaz Asmall attended The International Qur’anic Braille Conference held in Istanbul, Turkey from the 3 – 8 February 2013 along with the representatives of 12 other countries which was hosted by the Turkiye Beyazay Dernegi Foundation. This was the first time a conference of this nature had been held. Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Pakistan, Palestine, Iran, India, Yemen and the United Kingdom attended this conference to discuss problems faced in the production of Braille Qur’aans. The aim of this conference was to create a unified Braille code which will allow Braille Qur’an readers around the world to read Braille Quran’s produced by the different countries. The result of this conference saw the emergence of a newly formed body called The International Organisation of Braille Quran Services.
